A major new £210 million investment fund has opened for applications today, unlocking fresh opportunities for small and growing businesses across the South East. The South East Investment Fund, delivered by the British Business Bank, aims to accelerate sustainable economic growth by increasing access to early‑stage finance and supporting innovation in every part of the region — from rural and coastal communities to major urban centres.
The fund provides two commercial finance options designed to help businesses scale:
- Debt finance from £25,000 to £2 million
- Equity investments of up to £5 million
By widening the supply and diversity of early‑stage capital, the South East Investment Fund will support businesses that may otherwise struggle to secure investment, helping to break down long‑standing barriers to finance. ESG principles are embedded throughout the fund’s design, aligning with the UK’s transition to a net‑zero economy.
Funding is delivered through appointed regional fund managers, with businesses able to explore options, check eligibility, and apply directly through these partners.
Senior leaders from the British Business Bank and delivery partners — including Bethan Bannister, Keira Shepperson, Luke Matthews and Cheryl Weeks — emphasise that the fund represents a significant boost for the region’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, strengthening local opportunity and long‑term economic resilience.
Businesses interested in applying can review finance options and submit applications via the British Business Bank website.
