Community groups and charities across Sussex invited to apply for funding of up to £9,000
Sussex, UK – Community organisations and charities across Sussex are being encouraged to apply to the King Charles III Charitable Fund Small Grants Programme, which has announced its funding timetable for 2026/27. The programme provides grants of up to £3,000 per year for up to three years, offering eligible organisations the opportunity to secure a total of up to £9,000 in funding. Around 100 organisations receive support through the programme each year across the United Kingdom.
The next application round will open at 9:00am on Wednesday 5 August 2026 and close at 12 noon on Wednesday 19 August 2026. This funding round will support projects focused on Education and Heritage Conservation.
The programme operates on a rotating schedule of funding priorities throughout the year:
- April: Environment and Countryside
- August: Education and Heritage Conservation
- February: Health & Wellbeing and Social Inclusion
Organisations working in education, local heritage, marine history, environmental awareness, skills development, volunteering, and community participation are encouraged to explore the opportunity. The funding could enable innovative projects that help people strengthen their connection with nature, local heritage, and the marine environment.
The announcement comes as partnership initiatives across the region continue to inspire community engagement with coastal and marine conservation. The email highlights work being led by the Zoological Society of London on the River Thames, helping communities reconnect with marine environments and participate in practical environmental action.
Sussex Bay has also confirmed that, where capacity permits, it can offer assistance to prospective applicants, including informal project development discussions, introductions to relevant networks, feedback on draft applications, letters of support where appropriate, and advice on partnership opportunities.
