UK-China Summit to Strengthen Green Manufacturing and Circular Economy Links

Businesses from across Sussex and the South East are being invited to explore new international trade, investment and collaboration opportunities at the UK-China Green Manufacturing and Remanufacturing Industry Summit in Lewes later this month.

The summit will take place on Monday 28 September 2026 at 32 North Street, Lewes, bringing together UK businesses with a senior delegation from Hejian Remanufacturing Industry Park, one of China’s leading industrial clusters for circular manufacturing.

Supported by Dougal Fleming, Sussex Chamber of Commerce Board Director, the event will showcase opportunities for partnerships in sustainable manufacturing, engineering, product life extension, materials recovery and remanufacturing.

The visiting delegation includes the Mayor of Hejian and representatives from the Institute of Remanufacturing Industry & Technology, a leading Chinese organisation supporting research and development, testing, certification, standards development and professional training for the remanufacturing sector.

Hejian is home to more than 170 remanufacturing businesses operating across sectors including automotive components, drilling equipment, computer servers and office equipment. The industrial cluster generated revenues exceeding £1.5 billion in 2023, highlighting the potential scale of future business opportunities between UK and Chinese partners.

The summit will offer businesses the opportunity to participate in networking sessions designed to facilitate direct introductions and commercial discussions with Chinese manufacturers and industry leaders. Organisers hope the event will help create new opportunities for trade, investment, research collaboration and knowledge exchange.

“Dougal Fleming, organiser of the China UK Manufacturing Summit and Sussex Chamber of Commerce Board Director, said:

‘The transition to a more circular economy presents significant opportunities for manufacturers, engineers and innovators. This summit will bring together organisations committed to sustainable growth and provide a platform for meaningful conversations that can lead to new partnerships, commercial opportunities and shared innovation. We are delighted to welcome the delegation to Sussex and showcase the strengths of our region’s business community.'”

The programme will also include an address from the Mayor of Lewes, a tour of Every’s Foundry and cultural demonstrations as part of the visit.

Businesses interested in attending can register via the event’s Eventbrite page, with complimentary places available through a dedicated promotional code.
