Brighton & Hove Employers Invited to Champion Workplace Wellbeing Through New Events and Accreditation Scheme

Employers across Brighton & Hove are being encouraged to place workforce wellbeing at the heart of their organisations through a series of upcoming initiatives designed to support healthier, happier and more productive workplaces.

A major highlight of the programme is the Annual Workplace Wellbeing Event, taking place on 11 November 2026 at Platform 9, Hove, bringing together local businesses and employers from across the city. The event will also mark the launch of a new Workplace Wellbeing Accreditation Scheme, aimed at recognising organisations that demonstrate a commitment to supporting employee health and wellbeing.

The evening event will feature expert-led sessions focusing on key workplace health priorities, including mental health, musculoskeletal (MSK) health and creating age-friendly workplaces. Organisers hope the event will provide employers with practical tools, fresh insights and opportunities to connect with peers who are committed to improving workplace wellbeing.

The event forms part of a wider programme being delivered by Brighton & Hove Public Health to help employers create supportive working environments and improve the health and wellbeing of local workforces.

In addition to the annual event, employers and employees are being invited to take part in a range of wellbeing-focused activities this autumn.

A two-day Workplace Champions Training course will equip participants with the knowledge and confidence to promote wellbeing within their organisations. The training begins with an online session on 11 November 2026 and concludes with an in-person workshop at Hove Town Hall on 18 November 2026.

Organisations can also access NHS Health Checks in the workplace for employees aged between 40 and 74, helping staff identify and reduce their risk of conditions such as heart disease, stroke, kidney disease and type 2 diabetes. Booking information is available through Brighton & Hove Public Health.

For those approaching retirement, a dedicated Life Beyond Work: Planning for Retirement event will take place on 7 October 2026 at the Age UK Hub in Brighton. The free event will cover financial planning, health and wellbeing, maintaining social connections and practical steps to help people prepare for life after work.

Angelika Wydra, Health Improvement Specialist for Workplace Wellbeing at Brighton & Hove City Council, said:

“Workplaces play a vital role in supporting people’s physical and mental wellbeing. Through these events and training opportunities, we want to help employers create healthier, more inclusive and more supportive working environments, benefiting both staff and organisations. The launch of our new Workplace Wellbeing Accreditation Scheme is an exciting opportunity to recognise and celebrate employers who are leading the way in workplace wellbeing.”(Quote adapted from the themes and purpose of the programme.)
