Residents, businesses and organisations are being invited to help shape the future of Brighton & Hove as the city launches a major consultation on its new City Plan.
The City Plan will guide development across Brighton & Hove over the next 15 years, setting out how the city can deliver new homes, employment space, infrastructure and sustainable growth while protecting its unique environment and heritage. Once adopted, it will replace the current City Plan Parts 1 and 2.
The consultation follows an earlier engagement exercise that attracted more than 700 responses and comes in response to changes introduced through the Government’s new National Planning Policy Framework and planning reforms.
The council is now seeking views on:
- The biggest challenges and opportunities facing Brighton & Hove
- What the new City Plan should prioritise
- Local development and infrastructure needs
- How communities and stakeholders would like to be involved in shaping the Plan
Alongside the consultation, a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) Scoping Report is available for comment, and a new “Call for Sites” process is open for potential housing, employment, retail and other development opportunities.
